I have spent over a decade working in crisis work supporting youth and adults in the LGBTQ+ community, as well as helping people navigate disordered eating, self-harm, religious trauma, OCD, PTSD, autism, and ADHD.

I hold an additional certification in ADHD support, earned my LSW, and am currently working toward full licensure. I practice under supervision with Kai Thigpen, LCSW and Christine Bergman, LCSW.

Alongside my professional experience, I also bring lived experience as a neurodivergent and disabled person. I understand how identity, health, and daily life intersect in ways that are often overlooked or minimized. Living with food allergies, for example, isn’t just a dietary consideration. It can shape your sense of safety, your social experiences, and your relationship with food in ways that others don’t always see. You don’t have to explain that here.

During the pandemic, my work expanded into virtual therapy and online support groups, and I was honored to receive NAMI’s Facilitator of the Year Award (2021) for community support work. Technology issues during sessions? No problem! Working virtually since the pandemic means I can help troubleshoot non-cooperative tech during a session - we always have backup plans.

About Sage Stevens | Virtual Therapist in Pennsylvania

Sage Stevens, therapist, smiling, wearing glasses and a denim shirt, with a bookshelf and colorful artwork behind them

I’m Sage Stevens, MSW, LSW (they/them), a non-binary, AuDHD, and disabled therapist offering virtual therapy for adults across Pennsylvania. If you’ve ever felt like an outcast, you are welcome here.

I help adults navigate trauma, anxiety, ADHD, exploring identity, and the messiness of life using approaches like Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, ACT, and somatic techniques.

Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and judgment-free (no masks needed), along with a healthy dose of humor. It takes a ton of courage to reach out and start, or restart, your mental health journey. I’m glad you’re here.

FUN FACTS:  I started an animal rescue, which inspires how I bring care and connection into every session and fuels my passion for preventing burnout. It’s actually what lit a fire in me to become a therapist. My senior rescue pup, Journey, is below, and of course a big part of the inspiration behind the name of the practice. Outside of the virtual therapy room, I enjoy painting, dancing, attempting to organize life in my planner, and reading.

Hi, Welcome in!

Professional & Lived Experience

Areas I support clients with

People come to therapy for many reasons. In my work providing virtual therapy for adults in Pennsylvania, I often support people navigating experiences like the following:

Explore ways to work with your neurodivergent brain, not against it, navigate intrusive thoughts & compulsive behaviors, and build systems that fit your life

ADHD, autism, OCD, & executive functioning

Learn ways to calm racing thoughts, ease overwhelm, and support your nervous system so you can feel more grounded & steady in your daily life.

Anxiety, burnout, & chronic stress

Explore your identity and navigate intersecting experiences of queerness, kink, poly & ethical non-monogamy, sex work, and more, without judgment.

Identity exploration & LGBTQIA+ support

Process traumatic experiences, reduce triggers, and build a greater sense of safety, stability, and self-understanding.

Trauma & PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder)

My approach is relational, collaborative, and always at your pace. If this resonates with you, I invite you to request a free consultation so we can connect and explore whether working together feels like a good fit.

My Approach to Therapy

Therapy is never one-size-fits-all. I take an integrative, trauma-informed approach, using evidence-based methods that can be adapted to your needs, goals, and any access or disability support that helps you feel more comfortable and supported.

Approaches may include:

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Somatic techniques

Creative tools like art, movement, or other forms of expression may also be incorporated when helpful and always optional.

Together we work to:

  • Build coping skills that actually fit your life

  • Strengthen emotional regulation

  • Calm the nervous system

  • Reduce burnout and overwhelm

Together, these skills support real, lasting change, so that daily life feels less like something happening to you and more like something you're actually in charge of.

Ways we can work together

In addition to individual therapy for adults in Pennsylvania, I offer support groups, provider consultations, and trainings rooted in trauma-informed and gender-affirming care.

Support groups are small, identity-affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent adults navigating trauma, burnout, and identity stress.

Consultation and trainings support therapists and organizations in building more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable systems of care.

Finding the Right Support Matters

If something in my story or approach feels supportive to you, you’re welcome to learn more about the services I offer or request a free 15-minute consultation so we can connect and see if this feels like the right fit.
